Society of Iranian Graduate Students (SIGS) at UC Irvine is a non-political, non-profit, and volunteer student organization which fosters unity and cultural exchange among Iranian graduate students. We value understanding, camaraderie, and friendship-building across diverse backgrounds. Our core objectives include:
Cultural Appreciation: SIGS at UCI celebrates Persian culture through events, workshops, and education. We honor art, history, traditions, and values.
Cross-Cultural Bonds: Embracing diversity, SIGS at UCI connects individuals through shared experiences, dialogues, and collaborations, fostering strong friendships.

Transportation from the Airport
If you're flying into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and need to reach the University of California, Irvine (UCI) campus, here are some transportation options to consider:
Arriving at LAX or SNA? We can offer:
Ride by Volunteers: SIGS members are ready to assist new students by providing rides to the UCI campus area. Join our Newcomers Telegram group for more details and to arrange your ride.
From LAX?
Shared Ride Services (Uber, Lyft): This can only be used if you have a credit card or debit card to pay with, as these shared ride services don’t accept cash. Convenient and widely used, these app-based services can take you directly to the UCI campus. Download the app, request a ride, and follow the instructions for pickup.
Shuttle Services: Several shuttle companies operate from LAX to various destinations. Some require advance reservations, while others offer on-the-spot service. The such shared ride vans companies are Prime Time Shuttle, Super Shuttle, and Shuttle To LAX.
Prime Time Shuttle from LAX (UCI Discount): To reserve a complimentary shuttle service, fill out this form found on UCI transportation website.
Public Transit: You can take the LAX FlyAway bus to Union Station. The buses run seven days a week and every 30 minutes during peak hours. When you arrive at Union Station, you’ll transfer to light rail through Metrolink. (Check the train schedule on their website) Purchase a ticket for destination to Tustin or Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center. From there you can take the OCTA Bus to UCI Campus.
From Tustin Metrolink Station (Metrolink Only):
Take OCTA Route 473 to UCI
Take OCTA Route 472 to North Campus
From Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (Metrolink & Amtrak):
Take OCTA Route 59 to UCI
Taxi: Yellow cab taxis are available at the Arrival terminals on the lower level of the airport. There will be a yellow sign indicating the taxi's location. Tickets will be provided to the passengers indicating the approximate fares to all major destinations.
From John Wayne Airport (SNA)?
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is much closer to UCI than LAX. If you're arriving at SNA, you'll have a shorter journey to the UCI campus.

Shuttle Services: There are shuttles available from the arrival level terminal of John Wayne Airport. The list of shuttle services can be found on the airport website. You may reserve a shuttle service in advance through their website. Another option for booking the shuttle can be done on the spot with shuttle coordinators at the kiosk present in the airport.
Taxi: Taxis from John Wayne Airport (SNA) costs about $20-$30 each way.
